Last year I made a resolution to go to the gym and hike with Buster (dog in Oregon) every day for a month. I also adopted a super early 5am schedule where I could enjoy time by myself every morning before the house woke up. I ended up going to the gym pretty much daily after I made that resolution, until I left Oregon. I kept the super early schedule for about 6 months and loved it.
Resolutions are a big thing for me.
The last few months of 2024 were really hard for me, and I slipped a bit. I left Idaho the first week of August to go back to Indiana. About a week after I got back to Indiana my cousin Ashley was murdered by her husband Tom, and it just really set back a lot of the mental progress I had made this year.
For context: It took me about 2 years to fully process and move past the dog mauling. I have PTSD but I manage it really well, and I have found a decent purpose through Workaway, so I felt like I had finally managed to get past the hardest thing I’d ever had to handle. Like that was the hardest thing I ever thought I’d have to mentally deal with, and then….Ashley was murdered. Now the dog thing is small, eclipsed by this madness.
But I don’t have two years to process it tbh. It’s not healthy. So. New Years Resolutions 2025 are below, and I’ll be hitting them hard.
- Volunteer (Habitat for Humanity – A Just Harvest – Chicago Cares)
- 5am schedule is back (letsgoooo)
- Can’t afford Chicago gym prices, so 12000 steps a day since it’s Winter and cold.
- Vegetarian by 02/20/2025
- See Nicole – she has really helped motivate me throughout this past year.
- Be more social – even on Workaways I usually prefer to just go off by myself, so I need to be more open.
- Weed – Quitting for a bit, I’ll re-evaluate.
- Alcohol – 3 years sober.
- Journal – Daily
- Meditate – Daily
- Continue Workawaying all year.
I know resolutions motivate me because I’ve lost 70+lbs in 2024 (90+total since Workaway). All through eating better, exercise, and living with almost 0 money.
